Restaurateur Keith McNally has been hospitalized with a coronavirus infection, according to a post shared on his personal Instagram. McNally’s extensive New York City restaurant empire includes Balthazar, Pastis, Minetta Tavern, and others.
In the post, the British-born McNally says he was hospitalized four days ago after the virus spread to his lungs. “Constantly on oxygen and constantly weak,” he writes. He also writes that the National Health Service staff “are wonderful.”
In 2017, McNally suffered a stroke, which paralyzed his right side and delayed the reopening of Pastis in New York. After his main investor pulled out as a result of the stroke, McNally teamed up with restaurateur Stephen Starr to reopen the French café in June 2019.
More recently, McNally joined Instagram and has been using the platform to share pictures of his children, memes about the British royal family, some NSFW images, clips from his favorite films, and the final services at his New York City restaurants, which have been closed as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
